Multi-factor authentication: Maximum security for your account

With ALSO webshop’s new multi-factor authentication, security will be much higher, as there are at least two factors or hurdles any hacker would have to take. The solution is very easy: it is founded on a timebased one time password (TOTP). All that users have to do is install a cost-free app, which can generate time-based passwords (e.g. MS Authenticator). After the initial setup, each time he wants to enter the webshop he simply enters a code, which is continuously generated anew every 30 seconds.

MFA helps protect company data by adding an additional layer of security. Information is safer because potential thieves would need to steal both password and phone. Plus, phones are usually locked, requiring a PIN or fingerprint to unlock, rendering it even less useful if someone wants to use MFA credentials. It is one quick step more to take in the process, but it gains miles of security for each customer.

The new MFA-option will be rolled out the coming weeks in the webshop of ALSO Netherlands, ALSO Belgium and ALSO International.
