ALSO Recommerce reduces companies’ environmental footprint by recycling, refurbishing and, where necessary, disposing of IT equipment in a manner that conserves resources.
The life cycle begins with a thorough inspection of decommissioned hardware. A detailed analysis determines whether devices can be reused, repaired or recycled. The focus is always on maximising the reuse of components in order to avoid the production of new equipment – and thus the highest levels of CO₂ emissions. According to a Fraunhofer UMSICHT/Interzero study, refurbishing a laptop saves an average of around 107 kg of CO₂ and refurbishing a desktop PC saves around 163 kg of CO₂ compared with a new device.*

ITAD
IT Asset Disposition (ITAD) refers to the structured process of securely, efficiently, and environmentally responsibly disposing of or reusing IT assets that are no longer needed or have reached the end of their lifecycle.
This process is particularly important for companies, as IT assets often contain sensitive data. Improper disposal can therefore pose serious security risks, legal issues, and negative environmental impacts.
Security
Through a careful, comprehensive, and documented erasure process, all data – including the smallest fragments – are permanently and irreversibly removed from your devices. External anonymization of the hardware is also part of our service.
Our data security procedures are reviewed and certified annually according to recognized standards such as DIN EN ISO 27001:2022 and DIN EN ISO 9001:2015. For data erasure, we rely on the certified software Blancco, developed nearly 25 years ago. Since then, it has been continuously optimized and has established itself as a reliable industry standard.

Refurbishment refers to the professional reconditioning and reuse of IT hardware such as notebooks, PCs, servers, tablets, or smartphones. The goal is to make devices ready for use again after comprehensive testing and overhauling, thereby extending their lifespan.
