Why we make green IT for a blue planet
A world without notebooks, PCs or smartphones is hard to imagine. But the constantly growing number of new devices is increasingly putting a strain on our planet’s valuable resources. For example, the production of a single PC consumes almost 350 kilograms ofCO2 , 1,500 liters of water, 240 kilograms of fossil fuels, 22 kilograms of chemicals and a number of precious and heavy metals (source: Federal Association Die VERBRAUCHER INITIATIVE eV).
Our Mission: Together sustainably

We are pursuing several of the official goals for sustainable development, the so-called “Sustainable Development Goals”, or SDGs for short, with great emphasis. We have always strived for sustainable economic growth and are committed to providing optimal working conditions for our employees. Because only together with them can we truly grow and be successful in the long term. At our location in Berlin Adlershof, we combine all processes from procurement to production to shipping. We are therefore fully subject to German labor law, which is particularly employee-friendly in international comparison with regard to matters such as pay, safety, employee participation and social security.
Our business model for the repair and reuse of used IT also makes us a prime example of a particularly sustainable production method. In this way, we effectively conserve resources and reduce environmental impacts by avoiding IT hardware waste. In this way, we are making a decisive contribution to the fight against climate change and its effects.
About ALSO Recommerce
Since its founding as a second-hand IT provider in the late 1990s, ALSO Recommerce (Webinstore AG) has now firmly established itself in the European market. We are a reliable partner, whether you want to dismantle old technology or build a new IT infrastructure. Our goal in everything we do: absolute sustainability, the highest quality and an excellent price-performance ratio. Today we have a refurbishment rate of 97 percent – no reason for us to rest on our laurels.
On the contrary: Our headquarters in the south of Berlin continues to grow. Numerous start-ups and a science campus are located in the immediate vicinity. Our service center, including a modern large warehouse, now covers over 4,500 square meters. The direct connection to the A100 motorway and the Berlin Brandenburg international airport guarantee a smooth logistics chain.
Over the last 20 years, our business has grown steadily, as has the know-how of our many long-standing and experienced employees. As with our technology, we focus on diversity and long-term sustainability. Our relationships with customers and partners are similar to our relationship with IT hardware: we prefer to maintain and improve it rather than abandoning or replacing it too quickly.
For us, these are more than sufficient reasons to rely exclusively on used IT. And we recommend the same to our customers – with full conviction. Why not? By no means all decommissioned hardware is actually considered “old iron”. On the contrary: most devices could continue to perform their tasks for years until they are truly irretrievably lost. And even then, they can still serve as a spare parts warehouse.
