SOLAS - new law enters into force on 1 July 2018
According to the IMO (International Maritime Organization), there is a new regulation for shipping.
The new SOLAS (Safety of Life at Sea) Chapter II-2, Regulation 10.10.4 states that: "For ships constructed on or after 1 July 2014, a minimum of two portable two-way radios for each fire party for fire-fighter´s communication shall be carried on board.
Those two portable two-way radios shall be of an explosion-proof type or intrinsically safe (ATEX radiotelephones). Ships constructed before 1 July 2014 shall comply with the requirements of this paragraph no later than the first survey after 1 July 2018
